Supporting Documentation: Glossary on the COVID-19 pandemic

Downloading terminology data

  1. From the Data and Resources section of the Glossary on the COVID-19 pandemic page where you found these instructions, click the Download button next to the Data file.
  2. Edge: The file opens in a new tab. Save the file to your computer ( Ctrl + S). Firefox: A window opens that asks “Do you want to open or save this file?” Click Save.
  3. Copy the downloaded comma-separated values (CSV) file to the file location of your choice.
  4. To structure the data in columns so that it’s more easily readable, you will have to convert the data. Here’s how:
    1. Launch spreadsheet software (e.g. Microsoft Excel or OpenOffice Calc) and click Open.
    2. Navigate to the drive and folder where you saved the CSV file. If you do not see the CSV file, select the option “all files” beside the window called “File Name.”
    3. Open the CSV file you want.
    4. In the Text Import Wizard, choose the Delimited option and click Next.
    5. In the second window, unmark the Tab delimiter and click on Comma. Click on Next.
    6. In the third window, make sure the chosen format is General and click Finish. You’ll see the data clearly organized by column. All that is left to do is to play with the column widths to see all the data for each one.
