- For data under heading ‘Start-date_Date-début’, if there is only one rate for a specific city and year, the rate is valid for the entire year. If there is more than one rate for the year, the rate is valid until the start of the next rate or the end of the year for the last rate.
- For data under heading ‘City_Ville’, if this field is blank then the rate applies to the whole country
- For data under heading ‘Province-State_État’, the province or state codes are only provided for cities within Canada or the United States
- Data for the year 2021 are exactly the same as for 2020

The Canadian city rate limits listed in this dataset are provided only as a guide to help determine reasonable accommodation costs. These limits are expressed in Canadian dollars and exclude service charges and local taxes. If a city name doesn't appear in the list, the city rate limit is $100, as approved by Treasury Board. Employees are encouraged to contact the government travel service contractor for the selection of accommodations, where listings in the directory are unavailable.
