Supporting Documentation: CanadaBuys contract history
CSV File Restructuring
From March 17, 2026 until April 10, 2026, the CanadaBuys contract history and CanadaBuys awards notices datasets were restructured. The changes implemented include:
- Adding data fields related to the contracting instrument used (instrumentType-typeInstrument-eng and instrumentType-typeInstrument-fra)
- Adding data fields related to the type of activity represented by the entry (amendmentType-typeModification-eng and amendmentType-typeModification-fra)
- Addressing a known issue related to the inconsistent use of the contractAwardDate-dateAttributionContrat and amendmentDate-dateModification fields
- Addressing a known issue related to the inconsistent display of original contract award amounts in the contractAmount-montantContrat field for records with an amendmentNumber-numeroModification of "000"
- Addressing a known issue related to the unintended duplication of previous contractAmount-montantContrat values in records associated with purely administrative changes to a contract after January 2023 (falsely implying that a change was made to the contract value when no such change occurred)
- Removing unnecessary entries that were previously added to the contract history records in the following scenarios:
- Duplicate contract history records that were previously created when internal administrative updates occurred that did not substantively alter the contract itself
- Records related to placeholder suppliers
- Records related to catalogue purchases, individual call-ups against existing standing offers, and individual task authorizations under existing contract vehicles (as these constitute the use of existing contract instruments, rather than amendments to those instruments)
